The West Rome United Methodist Church Crisis Ministry has been in service since the 1960’s. It’s mission has been to serve those in need of assistance with food, clothing, utilities, rent, furniture, etc. in the name of Jesus Christ. The Crisis Ministry primarily serves clients with children in the household. Requests for monetary assistance (maximum of $50.00 per client) may be made only once in a 12 month period. No cash is ever given to clients, bills are paid directly to the company, Georgia Power as an example.

Clothing Available
Children’s clothing is available from infant through Jr. sizes and some limited adult sizes. Clients may come in any time that the Crisis house is open to meet with a volunteer about clothing needs.
Emergency Food
The Crisis Ministry maintains a small food pantry for emergency food supplies. Referrals are then made to our cooperative agency, Rome Action Ministry who will supply 1 weeks groceries.
Backpack Ministry
Each school year, the Crisis Ministry provides backpacks with school supplies for children in the Rome Area. Requests for assistance are taken during the summer preceding the school year. Backpacks and school supplies are purchased and prepared with each student in mind.
Christmas Project
Baskets of food for the Christmas Holiday and toys for children in the family are distributed to clients each December. Requests begin coming in during November. Rome agencies work together to be sure that recipients aren’t duplicated but that no family in need is left out.

Funding for the Crisis Ministry has come from the proceeds of the annual silent auction and generous contributions of caring individuals via Check or Cash to the West Rome United Methodist Church.
