Select a class to visit today!
West Rome UMC has several classes to choose from that meet on Sunday morning beginning at 9:45 a.m. We hope the brief descriptions below will give you an idea of which class you would like to visit first. We welcome you to coffee time in the church kitchen which begins at 9:30 a.m. if you would like an opportunity to meet church members prior to the start of classes!
Abundant Life
The Abundant Life class members range in age from 45 years and up and include singles and married couples. The group begins each class by going to the Lord with Praises and Prayer concerns. Our focus for the past few months and the next few months has been Paul's Epistles. So many of Paul's concerns for the early churches still are concerns today. Pat Rivers and Gail Blanton lead the lesson and discussion during epistle studies. The book of Galatians was just completed.
Often, between the letters by Paul, we take "side-tracks." Jan Green and Carolyn Major have had some really interesting lessons. The most recent concerned Praise.
CJ Raley
If you love old hymns that you grew up with you will love this class. They start every class singing wonderful old hymns. Then the teachers teach a Bible Based lesson using the Adult Bible Studies Sunday School Book. They also have breakfast outings regularly. The majority of members in this class are retired singles and couples. The class collects canned goods throughout the year for donation to the WRUMC Crisis ministry and also contribute in many other ways to crisis ministry projects throughout the year.
OASIS
The "OASIS" class started out as a young adult class many years ago. It has evolved into a class for all ages, couples and singles. Sharing praises and prayer requests are an important beginning to every class. Barbara Davis and Dan Childs alternate months as teachers, and special guests are often asked to teach as well. They teach from the Bible with the goal of real life applications of the Word to deal with the challenges of day-to-day living. The class enjoys doing projects together and usually has two social gatherings each year. The class meets upstairs, to the right. Everyone is welcome to join us!
Storey Study
The Storey Study sunday school class is a group of all ages that learn through discussion. Alan Stout is the class leader and facilitates the discussion. This group is currently reading through the Bible. Members enjoy a small relaxed class environment with coffee and fellowship at the same time. You are invited to visit this class where they will make you feel completely at "home".
Children's Class
We have one Children's Sunday School Class for ages 4-11. We have well qualified volunteer teachers who prepare appropriate lessons and activities, using the United Methodist curriculum.
Youth Class
There is a class available for teens and pre-teens taught by Johnny Weeks. Both childrens and youth classes meet upstairs. Our constant prayer is for children and youth to again fill these classrooms and more!
